I have been sort of quiet, for the most part, about the season of life we are in currently. I feel now is the right time to begin sharing a bit more with all of you. God has been doing a good thing within us. For the past year and a half we have had the joy of ministering in Opelika, Alabama. Brian has been an Associate Pastor overseeing the contemporary service of one of the local churches. I have led worship and even had the privilege of preaching a few times while here. We have met some incredible people who we will forever hold dear to our hearts. Things have been great. But as we have learned in following God, sometimes God’s plans are different than our own. And that leads me to sharing that this Sunday will be the last Sunday that Brian will preach at FUMC Opelika as the Associate Pastor, and it will be the last time I will lead worship at FUMC as the wife of the Associate Pastor.
I firmly believe that God had us serving at FUMC Opelika for the season we were here. There’s no doubt about that. But with all seasons, they come to a close and a new season begins.
We are entering into our new season in the Wiregrass Area. Next week we will pack all of our belongings, ourselves, and our dogs into our vehicles and a truck, and head two hours south back to our hometown. Brian and I both will work, as well as enter into being missionaries to the area.
I know some of you are probably asking, “What does that even mean, Jaclyn? Being missionaries to the area?” Honestly, we don’t fully what it will entail. We are completely surrendering ourselves to Holy Spirit. We want to be led by the Spirit every step of the way. We have a general idea of being a blessing to our community, serving our community in the best way we can, and having our home be a safe haven and a place of gathering (so feel welcome to stop by for a cup of coffee or two). Community. Outside of that, we have no idea. Crazy, I know. But with God, we know that all will be well.
No, we aren’t going to be standing on street corners or passing out tracks, or even knocking on doors to hand someone a Gideon’s Bible. We simply want to live life with others as Jesus would, and as He leads us.
We covet your prayers as we enter into this new season. We appreciate and value your support. And we welcome any questions you might have, so don’t hesitate to reach out and ask! And for those of you in the Wiregrass Area, we can’t wait to do life with you and be in community with you!
